Janitorial Supervisor - Iron Mountain, MI

Job Summary: 

Responsible for organizing janitor schedules, completing timecards, assigning various tasks, completing site audits, managing inventories, ordering supplies.  Oversees PSI operations at the specific site and will need to work closely with the employees and the customer on any janitorial issues.

Essential Functions:

  • Training of janitorial workers using proper methods and procedures and to ensure proper operation of equipment and detailed cleaning

  • Travels to the sites at least once a month to conduct contract compliance evaluations

  • Must have strong communication skills.

  • Must be strong leader

  • Must possess strong organizational skills and pay attention to details

  • Must be flexible in work schedule

  • Must have basic computer knowledge (email, word, excel)

  • Must be able to perform all general cleaning duties as needed to fill in for absent employees or to assist with completion of work assigned

  • Must be safety conscious

  • Must be able to interview, hire and discipline employees

Education/Experience:

  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills and demonstrates such

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent

  • 2 years cleaning experience

  • 2 years managing personnel

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to run floor scrubber

  • Ability to run all types of vacuums

  • Ability to stand/walk for 6-8 hours

  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Specific skills required to satisfactory perform the functions of the job include the abilities to: operate floor and related electrical equipment, common cleaning tools, and using these tools and equipment safely.

  • Knowledge is required to understand written procedures, write routine documents, speak clearly, and understand multi-step and oral instructions.  Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes methods of industrial cleaning, preserving floors, walls, fixtures, etc.  Cleaning materials, safety practices and procedures

  • Must pass drug test

  • Must pass criminal background check
