Floor Care/Janitor -  Iron Mountain, MI 

Job Summary: 

Responsible for floor care maintenance on hard floor surfaces, organizing floor care schedules, assigning various tasks, managing inventories, ordering supplies if necessary.  Responsible for cleaning of restrooms, break rooms, locker rooms, shower areas, offices and conference rooms. Responsible for restocking of all bathroom supplies (soap, hand towels, toilet tissue).

 

Essential Functions:

  • Training of floor care technicians using proper methods and procedures and to ensure proper operation of equipment and detailed cleaning.

  • Must have knowledge on how to strip and wax floors.

  • Must have knowledge and ability to buff and maintain a high level of shine on floors.

  • Must be able to work well in a dynamic team environment and get the job done.

  • Must have strong communication skills in directing staff on floor care projects

  • Must be strong leader

  • Must possess strong organizational skills and pay attention to details

  • Must be flexible in work schedule

  • Must be safety conscious

 

Education/Experience:

  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills and demonstrates such

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent

  • 2 years floor care experience

  • 2 years managing personnel is a plus

 

 Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to run floor scrubber, buffing machine, carpet extractor

  • Ability and knowledge on general maintenance of the equipment and ability to conduct minor repairs

  • Ability to learn new maintenance techniques and processes

  • Ability to stand/walk for 6-8 hours

  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs

 Minimum requirements:

  • Specific skills required to satisfactory perform the functions of the job include the abilities to: operate floor and related electrical equipment, common cleaning tools, and using these tools and equipment safely.

  • Knowledge is required to understand written procedures, write routine documents, speak clearly, and understand multi-step and oral instructions.  Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes methods of industrial cleaning, preserving floors, walls, fixtures, etc.  Cleaning materials, safety practices and procedures.
